Its been a long time I'm watching it very closely and today I thought to write about it. It was the time in early 90s when Windows was getting popular and people were enjoying it and I truly believe that we must say thanks to Microsoft to make computer usable for a layman. But the bad thing that happened is Microsoft tried to put his monopoly in IT. As everybody know that MS is against to all free and open source software because they proved Microsoft theory wrong in all the way. They proved that an open source Server can be more stable, secure and faster than the company owned servers. And everybody know what Java did to VB.
Well you must be thinking why I'm talking about MS? Its because I'm seeing that the Linux world is slowly moving towards the same direction. We have lots of distros in the market and some of them are doing extraordinary work to reach layman. I salute to all those passionate developers who are behind such distros. Now why I made above statement because these distro trying to create their monopoly. Why the distros like Ubuntu, Mandriva, OpenSuSe fighting each others? Why people are writing blogs that says who is number one and why are they cribbing about other distro that they don't like? Why there is a column in DistroWatch.com that shows who is number one based on the Hits Per day, which is not true at all. I dont know why, do you? If you really want to know the popularity of a distro or a company you can go to Google Trends and put the companies names as comma separated values and you can see whats the popularity ratio.
I believe that there should be a competition in Linux world but for the good not to create monopoly. Dont forget that there is a war between MS Windows and Linux not in Ubuntu & Mandriva & OpenSuSe. I'm using these three distros specifically because they are the one who are slowly moving towards the same direction where the MS is. If it happens then there would
be no difference between Linux and MS.
I would like to appeal my dear friends who write blogs for different distros that praise a distro if you like it but dont hate other distros. Also I would like to appeal big distros that please stop firing on each other, please don't try to create monopoly its a free world and let it be free and open source.
